Image and Gender Identity Explored
A new Grace Jones exhibition is coming to the Nottingham Contemporary in September.
“Captured: Grace Before Jones: Camera, Disco, Studio departs from the iconic singer’s career and her collaborations with artists, designers, photographers and musicians to question black image-making and gender binarism as well as both performance and the performance of life.”
Curated by Olivia Aherne and Cédric Fauq, the exhibition will showcase photographs of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Robert Mapplethorpe, Antonio Lopez, Paul Mpagi Sepuya, and more.
The exhibition is scheduled to open in September 26, but dates may be subject to change due to the COVID-19 crisis.
