Designer Kerby Jean-Raymond describes the brand as an “art project” or “a timely social experiment” at times. This month the brand released the Experiment 4 sneaker in collaboration with Innocence Project, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to the nonprofit dedicated to exonerating wrongly convicted individuals within the prison system. Peter Do, one of New York’s most exciting new talents, designs modern women’s pieces with a focus in tailoring, construction, and fine textiles. The brand has been particularly supportive of the Black Lives Matter movement on Instagram since June 1st. They have been sharing resources and donated 100% of their June’s e-commerce sales proceeds to Color of Change, The Black Youth Project 100, and Black Visions Collective.
Three days ago the brand shared on Instagram a new giveaway activation to support the LGBTQIA+ community in New York.
Emma Chopova and Laura Lowena, of the label Chopova Lowena, have created a line full of color and folklore. The brand is known to be socially-conscious for their use of recycled fabrics and deadstock materials. They are also highly vocal when it comes to social activism. In the past month they have supported several projects with donations to The Trevor Project, The Nation Bail Out, and G.L.I.T.S. All campaigns are announced via Instagram.
