Imagination is My Roommate
From her flat in Paris, French-Chilean artist Catalina Sour Vasquez shows how she finds inspiration by surrounding herself with art.
“The life, the noise, the fury and the movement of this universe are works of existing art that are at the base of all my emotions and inspirations.”
Playing between surrealistic codes or laws of physics and space perception, her work can be found in diverse artistic expressions, from installations such as The Grape, which was made out of balloons in Marfa, Texas to “Cosmogony,” the photography series presented at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris. She has also presented her work in cities such as New York, San Antonio and Mexican Magic Town Bacalar, where she founded Bacalart, a contemporary art festival.
Her works are the testimony of a generation displaying subjects such as the environment, food and lately, focusing on experimental art.
