We The Cool: Who is Eliana Golomb?
Eliana Golomb: A visual storyteller who finds beauty in the everyday
WTC: What does Comsi Comsa mean and how did you come up with that name?
EG: "Comsi Comsa" means "like this, like that" in French, and it perfectly represents who I am. It's about embracing duality, the in-between spaces, and the beauty of not having to choose one extreme over another. I’m a Gemini, so this idea of merging opposites or finding harmony between contrasts is a natural part of my personality. The name felt right—it’s playful, balanced, mysterious, and open to interpretation, just like my work.
WTC: How do you approach photography through your phone?
EG: I surrender to simplicity and try not to overthink. like I wrote in my bio “taking photos with my phone” What I see and capture is exactly what it is—raw, natural, and effortless. The immediacy and accessibility of shooting with a phone also allow me to experiment freely, making the process both spontaneous and intimate. My creative process is deeply connected to my daily actions. For example, just last week, I was squeezing fresh clementine juice in the morning. Without planning, I started stacking the peels on top of each other, creating this vibrant orange tower that was completely mesmerizing. I instinctively grabbed my phone and snapped a photo, capturing the moment exactly as it was. I couldn’t resist—it was so beautiful that I even took out my professional camera. Moments like these remind me that creativity often stems from the smallest actions, as long as you’re open to seeing them.
WTC: Do you have a particular vision or concept in mind when you shoot, or do you prefer to let the environment guide you?
EG: It’s a mix of both. Sometimes, I have a very specific vision in mind—an image I can clearly picture even before I pick up my phone. In these moments, I know I’ll need the right time, lighting, and location to bring it to life, and I can’t wait for the moment when I can finally make it happen. There’s excitement and anticipation in the process, even though it doesn’t always turn out the way I imagined. Sometimes it’s completely different from what I envisioned, and other times it surprises me and turns out even better than I expected. On the other hand, I also love letting the environment guide me, discovering beauty in the unexpected, and allowing spontaneity to take the lead. It’s this balance between planning and improvisation that makes photography so rewarding for me.
WTC: Curating a feed on Instagram is also an art, what is the storytelling behind your feed?
EG: I truly enjoy curating my Instagram feed—it’s one of my favorite parts of the creative process. For me, it feels like putting together a puzzle, where each piece plays a role in telling a cohesive visual story. I focus on shapes, colors, and textures, creating a flow that feels harmonious yet intriguing. It’s about finding a balance between contrasts and connections, ensuring that every image complements the next while also standing strong on its own. My feed is open to interpretation, but at its core, it’s an exploration of beauty, duality, and the dialogue between the unexpected.
WTC: In a world where photography and digital art are shared instantly online, how do you navigate the pressure to create for platforms like Instagram while staying true to your own artistic vision?
EG: My Instagram account is deeply personal and represents who I am, even though there are no signs of my face or how I look. This gives me the freedom to keep creating while maintaining an air of mystery, which I truly enjoy. It allows the focus to stay on the art and the emotions it evokes rather than on me. At the same time, I like to embrace trends occasionally, but only in a way that feels authentic to me. I take those trends and reinterpret them through my lens, giving them a unique twist that aligns with my creative vision. This balance helps me stay true to myself while still engaging with the dynamic, fast-paced world of Instagram.
WTC: We’d love to know more about your world. What is your favourite thing to do in your free time? What bars, coffee shops, and restaurants do you frequent?
EG: I’ve always been a morning person—I love waking up early, enjoying the quiet, sipping on my coffee, and letting my mind slowly wake up. Mornings are when I feel most inspired and creative. Honestly, I’m quite a calm and homey person. Currently, I’m a new mom, so I don’t have as much free time as I used to, but I’ve learned to find moments of inspiration throughout the day, even in small, unexpected ways. I still manage to capture the little moments of everyday life that I love photographing. I also love riding my bike around the city and truly live a simple life that I’m so grateful for. And now, even as a mom, I’ve found joy in cycling with my husband and our son—it’s a beautiful way to spend time together. As for places I love, my husband is French, so we get to visit Paris quite often, and I’m completely in love with the city. There’s always something new to discover—whether it’s wandering through its charming streets, visiting exhibitions, or exploring inspiring boutiques. On my last trip, I especially enjoyed a visit to Café Pigalle, which had such a cool vibe. You are a big source of inspiration for other creatives and content creators out there.
WTC: Can you share three pieces of advice for emerging talents out there?
EG: One: stay curious. Inspiration is everywhere—learn to look at the world with fresh eyes and find beauty in the ordinary.
Two: be authentic, don’t create just to fit into trends; focus on what excites and resonates with you. Authenticity is what makes your work stand out.
Three: experiment fearlessly. Creativity is a journey, not a destination. Allow yourself to make mistakes and take risks—it’s all part of discovering your unique voice.
WTC: Our current issue is about resilience. Can you describe what this word means to you in life and in your work?
EG: To me, resilience is about finding strength in the face of challenges and learning to adapt without losing your essence. In life, it’s about embracing change, even when it feels uncomfortable, and trusting that growth will follow. In my work, resilience means staying true to my creative vision, even when I face setbacks or self-doubt. It’s about pushing forward, finding inspiration in unexpected places, and continuing to create despite external pressures.
