The Art of Falling On Your Feet
Words by Izack Morales.
This is a project that I created together with dancer, model and actor, LZ Granderson. I was inspired by movements, the capacity of taking risks in life and knowing that those risks could imply a series of failures; but also knowing that the beauty of life is to know how to land on your feet, to find your center and go with the flow that makes you get up again.
I grew up in an environment where the only option was to take daily risks to try to get something that is often out of reach. We had to constantly learn how to land on our feet, and how to play with the gravity that pulls us back to the ground. This idea about “floating while falling” has been in my mind since I was a kid.
This photoshoot was a projection of myself portrayed in LZ. Each item that you see here represents me somehow. I put together the styling out of vintage pieces that I’ve been collecting over the years from the different cities where I’ve lived at. One of my biggest passions is to get lost in flea markets and vintage stores. I look for treasures that I save to then give them a new life. LZ’s monochromatic outfits were carefully curated for him to blend within his surroundings.
Always learning, always experimenting.
