Heaven is a world of digital fashion.
Imagine being part of a Sci-fi Fashion movie taking place in outer space; or if you were the most astonishing deep-sea creature living on the bottom of the sea; maybe a half-human half-plant superhero fighting to save the planet while looking fabulous.
What would you wear?
After discovering the talent of Davina India, these questions can be easily answered.
We talked to this talented emerging fashion 3D designer, to find out more about her inspiration, her vision, and devotion to creating Fashion from other universes.
Tell us more about yourself, your background, and your career as a 3D fashion artist.
When I was a kid I made shoes and accessories out of paper and wore the wildest clothes combinations. Sunglasses were a must for every look ;) So I knew early on, that I would go into fashion later, and so I started to study fashion design in Germany and did my bachelor's degree. The topic was the creation of human through extraterrestrial influence. I’m and was always interested in the origin of the human species because science is now so far that old assumptions should be questioned!
How did your interest in digital fashion began?
During my studies, I discovered my love for avant-garde silhouettes and shapes, which I combined with extraordinary fabrics and materials. But there were shapes that I would have liked to have created that were not malleable from conventional materials. So I tried to find a way to develop my designs independently of the laws of physics and that's how I discovered the world of 3D design.
How would you describe your style? Where do you take inspiration from?
I would describe it as a combination of sci-fi and organic shapes. I take my inspiration from many different areas, but the art of nature definitely dominates here; for example different trees and plant species up to glowing deep-sea creatures. I imagine what life on other planets could look like and let this idea flow into my designs.
How is the process behind your art? From sketch to digital?
It's not that easy to explain :) Sometimes the ideas come out of nowhere, then I try to draw them as quickly as possible. Music plays an important role in the creation process and puts me in the right mood. While working I love listening to spherical or deep sounds but it always depends on my mood ;) Artist who inspired me are for example Grimes, Aurora or Gesaffelstein their music let my mind travel to other dimensions.

Where would you like to see your work being used? Maybe in a sci-fi movie, a futuristic cartoon, a mystical gala? Why?
In this case, I am open to anything. I hope someday I could create 3D outfits for music artists which they would wear on their album cover (if I could create something for Grimes it would be a dream come true!). Maybe 3D outfits and accessories for a cool magazine editorial; choosing a magazine is very hard because no matter in which one I would be mentioned it would be an honor. But soon I would like to go into the production of my designs so that you can wear them in real life, e.g. with the help of 3D printers.
How has technology helped you project what you want to achieve as an artist?
Most of the time I have a precise idea of how the design should look in the end, but during the process there are always new ideas that change the shape and that's what I love about the 3D experimental freedom.

What is the most experimental thing you’ve tried in your designs?
It was when I created the first 3D outfit and tried to put it on a body. I have never studied anything with 3D design or programs so I had to teach it to myself. So you could say that every new design I create is the most experimental thing I've designed cause my learning process is still going on.
What do you believe are the next steps in digital fashion, and how is that influencing your future?
Digitalization in the world can’t be stopped, so it will also influence the fashion world in the future; 3D gives us endless opportunities and that is the greatest inspiration for me. I can't say which way this all will go but it will be a hole new Chapter of Fashion.
